Data Permanence: The End of Rent
Traditional cloud storage—and even most decentralized storage networks—operate on a "Rent" model. If you stop paying your monthly fee (or if a storage "deal" expires), your data is deleted.
SovSeal believes that for an estate to be truly sovereign, it must be Owned, not Rented.
The Arweave Advantage: SovSeal utilizes the Arweave network, a permanent decentralized data store that uses a sustainable endowment model to ensure your legacy survives for centuries.
The Problem with "Rented" Data
When you store files on Google Drive, Dropbox, or even contract-based decentralized networks like Filecoin:
- Subscription Fragility: Your legacy is one missed payment away from deletion.
- Contractual Decay: If the company holding your contract fails, the link to your data is severed.
- Inflation Risk: You are betting that the price of storage will remain stable for 50+ years.

To ensure your data is immutable the moment you click "Upload," we integrate with Irys (formerly Bundlr). Irys provides a high-throughput gateway that guarantees your data is instantly available and permanently written to the blockweave without waiting for standard block confirmations.
3. Proof of Access
The Arweave protocol requires nodes to prove they have access to old data in order to mine new rewards. This creates a powerful economic incentive for thousands of independent actors worldwide to keep your files alive forever.
Redundancy Beyond Corporate Lifespans
What if SovSeal Disappears?
Because your data is on the Arweave blockweave, it does not exist on "our" servers.
- Direct Retrieval: Your encrypted data can be retrieved using any standard Arweave gateway (e.g.,
arweave.net) or node. - Sovereign Recovery: Your recovery instructions include your Arweave Transaction IDs (TXIDs). As long as the Arweave network exists, your files can be downloaded and decrypted using your Guardians' SSS shares—even if SovSeal the company no longer exists.
